At the event we held at the Faculty of Education at Akdeniz University Education Faculty, we worked with student teachers to explore soil not just as a subject, but as an interdisciplinary learning tool.
At the start of the event, one of the Scientix Türkiyer Ambassadors, Çelebi Kalkan joined us online to share:
- Sustainable development goals and education
- Sustainability goals related to soil
- Future skills and green skills
- The Scientix network and opportunities
- STEM Discovery Campaign & Soil Guardians Award
and shared his field experiences and perspectives on these topics.
Following that, with the trainee teachers,
-We re-examined the role of soil in education.
-We discussed how it can be integrated across different subjects.
-We developed ideas that can be adapted to their own lessons.
Soil is not just content; it is a tool for thinking, questioning, and making connections.
With LOESS, ANS is preparing future teachers for sustainable education.
