Keen on Democracy was an Erasmus+ Training Course designed to strengthen youth civic participation and provide participants with new knowledge, methods and experiences to support young people in becoming more active in democratic and community life. Held in Grywałd, Poland, from 13 to 19 March 2026, the project brought together 27 participants from six countries. Three young people represented Climate Volunteers in the project.
The project focused on a central question: how can we encourage young people to participate more actively in their communities and democratic processes? Participants explored topics such as active citizenship, volunteering, democracy, youth participation in decision-making, non-formal education and Erasmus+ opportunities. By sharing experiences and examples of good practices from different countries, they explored practical approaches that can help young people take a more active role in their local communities. Meetings with youth centres, youth councils and other local structures also offered participants an opportunity to discover different models of youth participation.
Interactive workshops, group activities, the Open Space method and intercultural learning activities supported participants in developing both their personal and social competences while building new international connections. They also worked on sharing good practices and developing ideas for future cooperation and international projects. As Climate Volunteers, we aim to transfer the knowledge and experiences gained by our young participants into our local activities, promoting active citizenship, volunteering, and meaningful youth participation.
