On 7 October 2026, ANS Education and Consultancy participated as a speaker in the European Commission’s Education for Climate Coalition Community Café on “Community Gardening and Greening Schools.”

The online event brought together educators, practitioners and community members to exchange experiences and ideas on creating greener and more sustainable learning environments.

Representing ANS, Ayfer Koçak Yılmaz shared experiences from the Horizon Europe LOESS project and its activities in Türkiye, highlighting the importance of soil literacy, experiential learning and community engagement in environmental education.

The discussion explored how soil literacy can become part of everyday learning, how teachers and students can engage in practical activities, and how collaboration with local communities can help transform educational ideas into meaningful action.

A key message from ANS’s contribution was that creating greener learning environments does not necessarily require large gardens, significant budgets or complex plans. Small, achievable steps, supported by motivated educators and active community participation, can make a meaningful difference.

The event also provided a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences with other speakers and participants working to promote sustainability in education.

We sincerely thank the Education for Climate Coalition team for the invitation and all participants for the inspiring discussions and exchange of ideas.
